Frequently asked
How do I restore my purchases on a new device?+
Open SnitchPet → Settings → Subscriptions → Restore. As long as you're signed into the same Apple ID, your plan and AI pets will return.
My Live Activity / Dynamic Island isn't showing up.+
Live Activities require iOS 16.1+. Check Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Live Activities, and confirm SnitchPet is allowed in Settings → SnitchPet → Notifications.
Which AI agents and IDEs are supported?+
SnitchPet watches Claude, Codex, and Gemini, both the desktop apps and their CLIs, plus Cursor (app and CLI) and GitHub Copilot inside VS Code. We detect agent activity from their local session files, so no keys, API access, or cloud relay are needed.
What folder permissions does SnitchPet need?+
SnitchPet only needs read access to the project folders you actively want watched, plus the agent session directories in your home folder (~/.claude, ~/.codex, etc.). We never touch anything else and never upload file contents.
Where do the pets come from? Can I make my own?+
All pets are publicly available, we host the gallery on the web and ship them with the app. You can also hatch your own pet directly inside Codex using the /hatching-pet skill, and your custom pets stay in your own account.
Do you support local models or self-hosted endpoints?+
Today SnitchPet uses on-device detection only, no model calls required. AI-narrated snitches (in beta) support OpenAI and Anthropic via your own key. Local models (Ollama, LM Studio) and self-hosted OpenAI-compatible endpoints are on the roadmap.
Will SnitchPet connect to MCP servers?+
Yes, MCP support is on the roadmap so your pet can react to tool events from your MCP servers (deploys, CI, custom signals), not just IDE activity.
My sessions aren't showing up on my iPhone.+
SnitchPet syncs sessions through iCloud, so your Mac and iPhone must be signed into the same Apple ID with iCloud Drive enabled. Cross-device sync also requires the Multi-Device Pro subscription, on the free tier, sessions stay on the device they started on.
Does the Mac app slow my machine down?+
No. It's a native SwiftUI menu-bar app built for Apple Silicon, with negligible CPU and battery impact even when actively watching dev signals.
How do I cancel my subscription?+
Open Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → SnitchPet → Cancel. Your current period continues until it ends.
